Color RENOVATION Brights Collection

Colors: Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and Real Red
The Bold Brights were the first family colors that I got when I started stamping over 7 years ago. I rarely used Yoyo Yellow and Gable Green, Lovely Lilac and Pixie Pink.  But I am LOVING the new Brights Collection now and EVERY single color!  I just made a star card set from Heather's online class and I used colors from ONLY the Brights Collection.  The colors work so well together!
This card was inspired and cased by Margaret Moody.  Since seeing her card, I have seen several done like it on other blogs.  I did this card first in this series of collection cards.  It is my fav! I used the horizontal slot punch to create the spot for the ribbon.  I used every circle punch I own to create the flowers and the leaves.
So I hope you have enjoyed seeing the new Color RENOVATION collections in my cards and are excited like I am about new colors, new combinations and new favorites!
Have a magical day!

Heather's Simply Sunday Sketch

Extra special Sunday post here!  I have seen Heather doing these sketches on her blog for awhile now and I did one a few weeks ago and forgot to photo it before I gave it away.  So this morning, I was feeling creative and decided to give it a go...all the way this time!  You can see her post here: sunday-sketch-challenge-14
I love the sketch this week and even could not stop with just one card!
Back tomorrow with the last Color RENOVATION collection!  It is my favorite collection!
Have a magical day!

Color RENOVATION Neutral Collection

Colors: River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Early Expresso, Crumb Cake (aka Kraft), Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Basic Gray, and Basic Black
Ok, this one was VERY hard to design with all 10 colors of this collection. But in my defense, it was 3am when I created this card and I think my creativity was completely drained by that point.
I might go back and try to create another card for this collection to redeem myself.
The card was created with simple boxes and punches to create the levels under the sentiment.  Punches are modern label, circle, wide oval and .  The black grosgrain ribbon ties it together and still using the Whimsical Words stamp set.
Have a magical day!

Color RENOVATION Regals Collection

Colors: Elegant Eggplant, Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Garden Green, More Mustard, NEW Cajun Craze, Riding Hood Red, NEW Cherry Cobbler and Bravo Burgundy
I was using the stamp set called Whimsical Words for each of these cards and I found the inspiration from this saying for this card.  Candles! and 10 of them for the 10 colors in this Regals Collection!  They are on card base of Kraft or now known as Crumb Cake.  The card was super simple to make.  1/2" pieces of cardstock in each color for the candles and then I took 1" circles and punched More Mustard to create the flames.  More punches for the tag and star and added the navy ribbon bow.
The past regals collection was not one of my favorites but I am loving it now!
Have a magical day!

Color RENOVATION Soft Subtles Collection

COLORS - So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Baha Breeze, Bashful Blue, NEW Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Pink Pirouette
The previous Soft Subtles Color Family was very light.  This NEW Soft Subtles Collection takes on a new sort of trendy updated pastels grouping. This card was inspired by Angie Juda and it works so easy to do all 10 colors in one card!  Just looking at the card now and I can see all kinds of color combinations for future cards in just using this collection of 10 colors!
I took 1"x2" of each color and glued them on a piece of white cardstock then lined it up on my Top Note die cut and ran it thru my Big Shot.  I used white gel pen to create the fake X stitches.  The ribbon is Pink Pirouette striped grosgrain - retired but if the color is coming back then I am using it!  The sentiment is using Whimsical Words stamp set stamped in Baha Breeze and placed on a scallop oval punch in Certainly Celery. Perfect Plum fake stitching is done around the card with a ruler.
So if you are a demo friend of mine, I challenge you to make a Color Renovation Collection card with all 10 colors of each grouping.  Let me know if you do and I will post a link to your blog!
Have a magical day!

Color RENOVATION

Stampin Up is changing their color families to keep up with the trends in colors. At first, I was puzzled and a little distraught but then excited! They did away with 30 colors but they brought back some of my favorite in colors from the past years. Like Baha Breeze, Riding Hood Red and more! But once I reorganized my magazine holders that hold my 8.5 x 11 cardstock, I was HOOKED! The colors look so great together and they make more sense to me being in these new collections.  I also did my ink pads in the above pattern of colors so I can get use to this new order.
I also got one each of the new colors that are being added to the collections because I am a SU demo. I am loving the new Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler and Early Expresso and Cajun Craze!!! Right after I sorted my cardstock and ink pads in the new collections, I just had to create a card to show the NEW collections off! Some of the them came easy and some were hard to get ALL 10 colors on one card! Over the next four days, I will show you the cards and the new collection colors. Color Renovation Launch date: July 1st, 2010!
And yes, here are those 30 colors that are retiring and they are going fast!  SU has already sold out of the Sage Shadow.  Crap! I did not get that color in time!  I will miss Close to Cocoa, Orchid Opulence, Summer Sun, Sage Shadow, Brillant Blue and Taken with Teal.  (tear for each)  I ordered two of each cardstock to have as no other new colors are even close to these colors.
Have a magical day!

Made for Allison

While I was at Weekend at Wendy's, we all got to make a rag square scallop purse. My daughter Allison had mentioned to me that she wanted a bag like mine.  See this post:  My first rag purse
So I went to Walmart and picked up some fun fabric just for her. I made her a smaller version for just her size.  Now you can see on the picture that my sewing is not my strong point but I got it done in 2 hours!  I also added a pocket on the side to hold her "pretend cell phone".  I just added another sewed X complete square to the side bottom square and sewed it together on the same stitch line. Gotta go back and add that to mine!
The handles are done in ribbon instead of fabric like mine. (thanks to Wendy)  I used the 5/8" black grosgrain ribbon but that was just not wide enough.  So Wendy had some retired black organza ribbon and we sewed them together to make the handles.  I like how it buckles to give that rag feeling to the handle. Then we added the bow in the organza ribbon with a cute white flower button. Allison was still up when I got home that night cause she HAD to see HER finished rag purse!  She loved it and has been using it to carry things to church, Nana's, and dance lessons.
These were so easy to make that I plan on making some for my fall craft shows.  I hope I can buy the rest of the organza ribbon from Wendy!

Dirty/Clean Reminder

I made this cute little easy to make reminder for the dishwasher.  I saw this idea in a gift book and thought it was super cute and my husband is always asking if the dishwasher is dirty or clean!
To make this:  first you need, heavy chipboard or I used the heavy cardboard that comes with the DS paper packs.  I traced a computer CD and cut it out.  Then measured 2.5" x 4" papers for two colors.  Glue them on as shown and trimmed the edges with scissors.  Then I sponged the top Kraft paper in Whisper White Craft ink to make it appear "dirty".  Next, I cut the letters CLEAN and DIRTY on my Cricut using Base Camp Font.  They are 1.5" size.  You could use chipboard letters or SU die cut letter as well.  I took the DIRTY letter and sponged them with Chocolate Chip ink and stamped in black ink with the background stamps.  I then attached the letters as shown.  I added two magnets to the back of it and done!
Here is what it looks like on the dishwasher.  I left this one at the Scrapbook Cabin.

Tile Coasters Gift

I made these tile coasters back at Christmas time and they come from Heather Summer's online class.  As soon as I saw the Mediallion stamp, I knew I had to use it to make more coaster gift sets.  I made 6 of these sets - three in Chocolate Chip and three in Black during my scrapbooking weekend.  The ladies thought I was nuts running up and down the stairs to the kitchen as I was stamping and baking them. It was like I was baking cookies!  I gave the Chocolate Chip set to my mom for her birthday.
Rather than write all the directions for you here, my friend Monika made some tile coasters here:  tumbled-tile-coasters directions   She did a great job explaining the details!  She rocks!  She also shows other stamp sets that you can use on the tile.  I did make a set of these in Old Olive for myself.  You know I LOVE Old Olive/green!

For My Mom

We celebrated my Mom's Birthday with family on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the park with a BBQ picnic.  It was a great time together!  I know the girls had fun chasing after Abigail, my niece who is 15 months old now.  Nana loves her grand-daughters so much!

This is the card I made for my Mom.  I got the idea from the one and only Angie Juda!  Brillant woman!  You can see how she creates this card here: medallion-card-video  It is SUPER easy to make!  I love using my pastels now!  I made this during my scrapbooking weekend and one of the ladies wanted to make one too!  She has never stamped before and loved it! :)  She used pinks and greens on her card.  My card is using Old Olive and Not Quite Navy with Kraft (soon to be known as Crumb Cake).

I will be back Monday to share the gift that I made.  As for my mom, she celebrated her Birthday/Mother's Day by going to Canyon Ranch (health and spa resort) out in Arizona for a week.  She comes back late on Mother's Day.  I hope she has a wonderful time! She so deserves it!
Have a magical day!

More Accordian Scrapbooks

What is today? Thursday? This week has been very busy and I have not found the time til this morning to download my pictures on my laptop.  So I will have to catch up on posts!
These are two more of the accordian scrapbooks that I made.  The game theme is for my recent Las Vegas Trip in April.  I used Real Red, So Saffron, Black, Very Vanilla colors that coordinate with the DSP called Jackpot.  I borrowed from my dear friend Monika, her card/game stamp sets and wheel to stamp the images.  (THANKS!)  I even made another one for my friends who went with us.
This accordian scrapbook was made for my Mom and my daughters trip to Chattanooga TN.  The owl was made of punches.  I used the owl from the Fox & Friends stamp set on the inside and used retired DSP Good Morning Sunshine.  The colors are Pacific Point (which is coming back!) Basic Gray and Bashful Blue.

Again, want a tutorial pdf? Just email me at nutmeg1197@aol.com and I will send my version of it. These scrapbooks are easy to make and I love how they display standing up.
Have a magical day!

Monday?

I have not had the time to catch up after the very fun and long weekend.  I got to make so many great projects at Wendy's!  I still need to photo some of them in order to post them here.

Someone asked if I was doing a tutorial on the scrapbook accordion album or the other mini scrapbook.  I would love to do that but my time is limited to what I can do.  At this time, if you are interested in making either one, please email me at nutmeg1197@aol.com and I will send you the PDF file with pictures and instructions on how to make them.

Back tomorrow with hopefully some pictures.
Have a magical day!
