No Mojo at all! But wait... a tip

Sorry all!  The mojo is a no go lately.  I was gone part of last weekend with the family and then this week was busy at work so no time to sit and create.  Plus the Olympics have been on and staying up late to watch them is hard on this old gal.  What an amazing Olympics it has been!  Go USA!  Canada should be very proud as they did a great job hosting these Winter games.
I hope to get to my studio this weekend as I am also having friends over to do some creating on Sunday!  I am sure I will have something to show all next week.  In the meantime, here is a tip from Angie Juda that I will be doing right away.  LABEL SPONGES  If you have never heard of Angie Juda, check out her blog here:  chic-n-scratch  She does awesome videos and her cards are simple and clean.  She also loves to share her ideas with all of us.  She is also well known by her Rag purse video...remember my purse that I made?

I plan to store mine in a simple jewelry box to keep them separate.  You know the ones you can find at Walmart for like $2.  What do you do with these sponges you ask?  You use them with the ink to create soft edges on cardstock and add dimension and texture like this shown here and my sample of sponging next.

Disney News and Tips

Here is some news that I wanted to share with my Disney followers:
If you are going to Disney this summer, I am jealous!  I absolutely miss the Main Street Electrical Parade!  We saw it last in 2000.  The SpectroMagic Parade gives me the creeps!  The characters in the beginning are super scary.  Maybe it is just me.

Disney made several big announcements last week at its special "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day," media event. The biggest news is that this summer will see a collection of special activities called Summer Nightastic! The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to the Magic Kingdom in early June! It comes direct from the Disneyland Resort, with floats and characters appearing for the first time at Walt Disney World Resort. This will be the Parade's first time in Florida since 2001. This version of the parade will be led by Tinker Bell.  Pinocchio and Snow White join the parade this summer, also aboard bright new floats. Magic Kingdom will also have a new special summer fireworks spectacular. In addition, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios will feature new lighting effects and the addition of a new drop sequence. Over at Epcot, the Sounds Like Summer concert series returns, and Disney's Animal Kingdom will add extended evening hours several times a week.

Festive Snow Friday

Here is the gift card set that I gave my SIL for her monthly gift.  I found this idea on Ashley Van Camp's blog here:  flower-bouquet-that-lasts card folder and cards and the details here:  Ashley's card-folder-measurements .  It is a card folder plus 6 notecards and 6 envelopes.  I used Chocolate Chip, Kraft, White, and Brocade Blue. The stamp set is Serene Snowflake stamped in Brocade Blue and Kind Thanks stamped in Chocolate Chip.  The large white snowflake is a felt item that was from last year and brown brads.  Brown gingham ribbon is from a local craft store.  I used the snowflake punch as well.
Here is a picture of our house last week as we got nearly 3" of snow.  That is alot for GA!  It was maybe around for two days but it was so fun while it lasted!  We also made a snowman in the front year and in the back year as well.  Reminded me of childhood in Ohio and so pretty on the trees.  : )

Missed one.....

Just a quick post today.  Here is a picture of my version of the treat container like my friend Monika's.  I did remember to take a picture of it after all.  Found it on my other camera.  So here it is:
I used brown gingham ribbon that I found at a craft store.  They hold 4-5 Hershey kisses.
Spending time with the girls this week as they are on Winter Break from school.

What happen to Valentine's Day?

My valentine's are a blurr this year.  Came and went so fast! Well, I just noticed that I have NOT taken one picture of the Valentine things I did make.  It is because I made them all Wedneday night and then passed them out Thursday.  I did make these cute baskets from my friend Monika and you can see her version here: hugs-kisses-holder  I also made them in a larger size of 7.5 x 7.5.  They are super easy to make and I will make more of these with an Easter theme in the next month.  Click on the Valentine's Day label on the right to see last year's creations for Valentine's Day.  I recreated some of those too.

Over the weekend I had one goal...make a rag quilt purse.  I have seen many of these on blogs and Stampin Connection.  You use the Big Shot and the scallop square die cut to cut the fabric.  I followed Angie Juda's video shown here:  rag-quilt-purse-video  She shows three videos on how to make the purse completely.  I have not sewn since 7th grade when I had to make an apron in home ec! (I still have it too!)  I went to Walmart and bought the Pixie sewing machine which works well for sewing on paper.  This might have been easier using my mom's sewing machine but I wanted to challenge myself.  It worked ok.  My mom showed me how to use the sewing machine and some tips which was a big help.  I started it on Saturday and finished on Sunday.  It took me a total of 4 hours for my first one.  I hope the next ones will go faster.

I bought the fabric at JoAnn's, a quarter of a yard each.  Fleece batting at Walmart because I forgot it at JoAnn's.  Doh!  The buttons are from Stampin Up Playground buttons.  I used a blue flower on top of a larger red one.  I love how it turned out!  Picking the fabric was really hard so I tried to stay simple.  Allison is modeling MY purse. I am thinking of making a larger version for Allison as an over the night travel bag. Megan wants one too.
We got 2.5" of snow on Friday!  That was so much fun and we got to make a real large snowman this time. We watched the Opening of the Olympic Winter Games on Friday night!  Vancouver Canada did a great job!  I love watching the Olympics!  As for Valentine's weekend, we did fancy dinners of filet and cheese fondue then crab legs and fish at HOME!  We have some surprises in the works for the girls this week as they are off school for Winter Break.

Wacky Wednesday

Every year I burn a photo cd for my sister and brother -in-law that includes all the photos of events we shared together with our kids that year. I try to make a something creative to give it to them. This year I got to make a cd for my brother and sister-in-law too as we shared fun time with their precious daughter Abigail. I found this cd holder on Splitcoaststampers and knew it was the one to do for this year's cds.
i (heart) the Bob Hope saying too!  "thanks for the memories"
You can see the directions that I followed here: Instructions for cd-case  I used my old favorite stamp set Heartfelt Thanks which was the first stamp set I bought years ago and why I fell in love with papercrafting and Stampin Up. The first one is in Ruby Red and Chocolate and for the Schuster5, the Sage Shadow and Chocolate Chip is for the Homier3. These were simple to make and so I made more for my yearly photo cd's. I used Stampin colors in Blue and Green with the Chocolate Chip to create mine. The stamp set changed to the popular stamp set of that year. I did 2004-2010 so I am even ready for this year! They are on my desk shelf next to my card holders seen here:

Made for a SAINTS Monday

New Orleans Saints are Super Bowl Champions! I think my brother will be on cloudy nine for the next few weeks after last night's winning game. He has been a Saints fan FOREVER and finally this is their year! It was also a great early birthday present for my brother as his birthday is the 19th of this month. Here is a MDS card that I have been creating just for that day.
It is not the final card as I will show you the hybrid card on his big day!

Festive Friday with Phase 2

Sorry to post this late but Blogspot is having trouble with the new post editor and I could not figure out how to fix it. Anyone else having to switch back to old editor on blogspot?
And last, here is the hybrid card created using the All in the Family Thank You Cards from Wednesday's post. I printed them on my printer and cut out. Then I trimmed it down to 4" x 5 1/4". I watercolored with classic ink on the people and added the two brown brads where the brads were on the print. I made a regular size White card and attached this card front on top. Done. I had to change the color on the green because when I printed the Kiwi Kiss on my printer, it was more like mustard green poop. Ewwww! So this color is Old Olive. I was pleased with them.
Have a magical day!
p.s. I will post the birthday scrapbook pages on Monday. Wanted to wait til my whole celebration weekend was done to add them to the page as well.

Na Na Na Na NaNa Today is my BIRTHDAY!

I am OLD!  Hit the big number this year!  But it is really not bothering me at all. TRUELY! Many people have been telling me "No way!" when I tell them how old I am. Gosh, that has to make an old chick like me feel good. :o)

So I scraplifted a scrapbook page of Jill's here: little-about-me scrapbook pages
It is going to be all about my birthday celebration as it happens today.  So come back tomorrow and I will post the finished pages. This is also one of the projects we will be doing at my next Scrapin/Stampin/Craftin Day at my home with my awesome friends!  I love Jill's work...did you see today's post?  Punch Poodles! Check it out by clicking on the link and click on home to see the currant post.
This card was made by my fellow demo and friend Monika Davis at our last Starz downline meeting.  It showcases the new Sweet Pea paper pack which I am dying to get and one of the FREE Salebration stamp set that you can get when you spend $50.   Happy me!

Wacky Wacky Wednesday

I have always wanted this stamp set called All in the Family!  A friend of mine bought it and asked me to mount the stamps for her.  Let me say took forever!  That was when you had to cut the rubber around the image too! OY! Plus it is a pretty penny for the stamp set.

I was so excited to see that it was on the MDS program.  I wanted to make a family thank you card to send out for Christmas gifts or when we stay with friends and family on a visit, etc.  One tip here:  Zoom in to 200% to line the figures up!  Here is what I came up with:

I plan to print them out later today and attach them to a white card.  I might even try to watercolor the ink into one and see if I like.  Check back Friday and see how they turned out!
Have a magical day!

MDS class is over :o(

Well the official part of the class is over but I can still make the projects and continue to post them on the class.  However it is not the same.  Hardly anyone responses to posts or heck even posts the pages after the class learning is over.  Wish it would continue for like other month with mini challenges or something.  I am going thru withdrawal! LOL

Here is a page I created once Heather taught us how to us the torn edje stamp to create a torn edge picture.  As soon as the video was over, I immediately thought a beach photo would be great!  But we had not been to the beach in awhile.  I created the page and then email my brother in law for the perfect family beach photo!  And here it is:

For my fellow MDS users: The colors are soft suede, sage shadow, black and white.  The torn edge can be found in the stamp selection.  I place four of them over the photo box and then made them all the same color as the background in sage shadow. I really like having the Enjoy stamp set on MDS cause I never have bought the real stamp set.  I also used the Upsy Daisy along the bottom in multiple of 4.  The butterfly punch was filled with Blooms dsp in soft suede and matted in white.  I added the black ribbon and knot at top.
